Organic Argan Oil 100ml [Premium Oil]
The yellow, olive-like argan fruit falls off the plant when ripe and is collected by hand. In order to get to the oil-rich seeds, the dried and peeled fruits are subsequently cracked by hand, an arduous task the Berber women perform. The seeds are first cold pressed locally. Before that, they are roasted the traditionally gentle way. Thanks to this process, they unfold the much-appreciated, aromatic, slightly nutty taste, which is distinct from that of the milder virgin argan oil.
Aside from the exquisite savor, this may serve as a further explanation for the special position this culinary treasure holds in gourmet cuisine. The piquant oil lends an individual aroma not only to oriental dishes, such as tajine, couscous, or tabbouleh – it is also perfect for improving meat, vegetables, and desserts.

The Argan tree, with its large shade giving leaves, is one of the oldest species of tree on earth. Slowly disappearing completely, it is now only found in south-west Morocco. Several projects have been launched to save the tree which is now protected by UNESCO.
Argan trees can fruit several times a year. The flesh of the fruit is similar to that of olives but is inedible for humans, and it is the stones which are used for producing oil.
Berber women crack the nuts by hand between two stones to extract the two or three oil-containing kernels, and then, according to Berber practice, they are lightly roasted before being pressed. About 35 kg of fruit yields one litre of oil.
Our organic argan oil comes from an oil mill in Morocco where argan oil production assures the local population of revenue and the reforestation and maintenance of this endangered species also prevents the encroachment of the desert.
In the traditional Berber method, the kernels are roasted before being pressed; this gives a nutty flavour with an eastern note. Argan oil is ideal not only for North African specialities but also for salads, lentils, egg dishes, pancakes and other desserts.
Argan oil is made up of more than 80 % unsaturated fatty acids, mainly oleic and linoleic, and is naturally rich in anti-oxidants.
